Jan is both a DJ and a music producer, with roots that stretch back to the mid-1980s. Much of his journey began as a resident DJ at various clubs around the Copenhagen area, where he developed his signature sound and deep connection to electronic music. His early musical inspiration came from the electro scene of the ’80s, followed by a strong passion for House when the genre began to take shape around 1985. Within the father-and-son duo, Jan is the production powerhouse—crafting original tracks, exploring new sounds, and bringing musical ideas to life. In addition to creating his own work, he is passionate about supporting and collaborating with new, up-and-coming artists. Beyond music, Jan is deeply interested in visual art, including painting and creative design. Over time, these artistic expressions are also intended to become part of the New Root Records universe and featured on the website.
Comes from a completely different background, with his roots in the metal genre, having played in several underground metal bands. Marcus Is also the artist responsible for NRR's artwork and webpage. Creativity is essentially what fuels Marcus. Everything creative piques his interest.
Our goal is to create something that can grow – both musically and with the intention to contribute some of any potential profit to “Plant a Tree” projects. It’s about creating something together that could become both successful and meaningful for us as a family. Our work is a way of sharing our passion for music and our values, while also building something bigger than just an underground record label. New Root Records sees sustainability as more important than immediate financial growth. We want to build a record label that can exist and perhaps make a difference for years to come, without necessarily chasing large profits. Our focus is on establishing a strong reputation within the music community and supporting healthy and sensible causes, while maintaining our integrity and belief in what we do. Over time, our goal, dreams, and ambitions are to help young, emerging artists enter the scene. Our business operations are not profit-maximizing, but our mission is to get the music out and make it live. Its more than music!
